Electronic Ticket Sales: Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions of sale govern the sale and supply of tickets by Chesterfield Folk Club and are subject to regulations set out in the constitution of the Club. Chesterfield Folk Club may amend these terms and conditions from time to time.
2. Chesterfield Folk Club’s Contract with you
A contract exists between you and Chesterfield Folk Club as soon as your order is received. Chesterfield Folk Club is entitled to withdraw from any contract in the case of obvious errors or inaccuracies regarding the tickets or for unavailability.
3. Pricing and Availability
All prices are subject to revision and the actual price paid by you shall be Chesterfield Folk Club’s price ruling at time of order. Such information is subject to change without notice. Currently Chesterfield Folk Club is not registered for VAT. We reserve the right to make an additional charge for delivery (if applicable) and handling. In the event that tickets are unavailable, or that Chesterfield Folk Club needs to vary the price due to performer price increases, or errors for example, following receipt of your order Chesterfield Folk Club shall send you a notification by email or telephone and allow you the opportunity to cancel your order if Chesterfield Folk Club has not done so itself.
Payment is made to the authorised ticket seller, who acts on behalf of Chesterfield Folk Club, and not directly to the club itself.
5. Delivery of Goods
The authorised ticket seller will forward your details (sufficient to identify you as a valid ticket holder and not including your financial details) to Chesterfield Folk Club. The club will not confirm your purchase in advance of the concert and you should take the payment to the authorised ticket seller as confirmation that you hold a valid ticket. Please bring any documentation you received from the ticket seller (e.g. an email) with you to the concert as proof of purchase. We do not issue physical tickets to e-ticket purchasers.
6. Chesterfield Folk Club Guarantee and Returns Policy
Chesterfield Folk Club will refund or exchange tickets in the event that an event is cancelled by the Club. Refunds will not be given in any other circumstances.
7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
Contracts between you and Chesterfield Folk Club shall be governed by English Law and all disputes shall be submitted to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
8. Invalidity of Terms and Conditions
If for any reason part of these terms and conditions is unenforceable; the validity of the remaining terms and conditions shall not be affected.
It is with sadness that Chesterfield Folk Club announces its closure and that its remaining planned concerts are cancelled. As chair of the committee, I would like to take this opportunity to comment.
Thank you for making this club one of the finest in the country. We have had the pleasure of staging some of the best performers in the land since we took over running the club in January 2010. We have staged 121 concerts, the last 56 of which have been at the superb venue of the Chesterfield Library Theatre. We are grateful for the Library’s support in reserving the nights we booked and for the premises officer’s enthusiastic help without which we could not have managed the evenings.
As an audience, you have been second to none. Your friendly and appreciative support and turning out in significant numbers gave us the confidence and ability to book the best acts. They, in turn, were keen to play at the theatre and were effusive in their praise of the reception you gave them and of the venue itself.
I am sure that, as an audience, you would wish to thank the committee who gave freely of their time to organize these not-for-profit concerts. Each event took approximately 100 hours of work, the reward for which was the exceptional nights of entertainment. Although none of the committee would ever seek the limelight, I would like to thank Geoff and Kath Deighton, Steve and Julie Swallow, Kam and (the late) Paul Britland, Dave Banks and Pauline Bateson. Without them we would have had no artists, no tickets, no advertising, no brilliant sound, no bar, no meet-and-greet and, in the best tradition of folk clubs, no raffle!
We had decided some time ago that we would finish running the club this December and had hoped that other younger people might have stepped forward to take it over or start to run their own. As it happens, in common with much of the world in 2020, the pandemic has altered our plans to finish with a string of sell-out concerts culminating in our most booked and revered artist, Jez Lowe with his band the Bad Pennies.
It remains for me only to say thank you again and only wish I could have said it in person in my role as MC.
Very best wishes form all at Chesterfield Folk Club
David Bateson OBE, Chair
